Having an anxiety problem is like hearing the enemy boss music in the video game but you can’t find the boss anywhere. Over time, you start to feel something clutching your chest tightly. You’re sweating, shaking, and there’s just no way to make it stop. That is what a panic attack feels like.

Stress is one of the main causes of panic attacks. Be it the loss of loved ones, divorce, or work-related problems. As the stress builds up, the chance of having anxiety panic attacks rises.

Dealing with Panic Attacks

Regardless of the source, panic attacks can be a debilitating and traumatizing experience. Luckily, there are a number of ways to tackle anxiety and panic attacks. Some of them are listed below

Breathe deeply

It’s common to have yourself breathing quickly during the attacks. To ease this symptom, you can try this breathing exercise:

* Close your eyes to focus on your breathing.

* Breathe in slowly and deeply through your nose. Count from one to five as you do this.

* Breathe out slowly and deeply through your mouth. Count from one to five.

This breathing exercise is also an excellent way to keep your anxiety level in check and prevent panic attacks. Be sure to do this exercise daily.

Keep doing what you’re doing

Panic attacks come whenever. If you have one while conversing with friends, do not stop. Let your friends know that you’re having an attack. Let them and yourself know that this will pass. Allow them to sidetrack you with interesting topics.

If you’re being bombarded with anxiety while doing the laundry, keep on it. Fold those laundries while practicing the breathing exercise mentioned above. Don’t let panic mess up your daily routines.

Of course, this does not apply when you’re driving or operating heavy machinery. On such cases, it’s better to pull over and wait until the anxiety passes.

Listen to ambient sounds

Focusing on ambient sound can ease panic attacks. One type of sound regularly used to treat panic attacks is the sound of rain. The regular sound pattern can calm your anxious mind. The sound tells you that there’s nothing to worry about.
