The Roman calendar however, was reformed and introduced by Julius Caesar, as the Julian calendar in 46 BC. Some people believe that June, was named after the Roman goddess Juno. The Roman goddess Juno, is the counterpart to the Greek goddess, Hera. In the Greek mythology world, Juno was the wife of Jupiter. To the Romans, Juno was the queen of the heavens and one of their most important goddesses. Be that as it may, others believe that June received its name from the Latin word ‘juniors,’ which means ‘the younger ones.’

What many people don’t probably know is that in the original Roman calendar, June was actually the fourth month of the year. However, during the Numa reformation of the Roman calendar, June became the sixth month. In that calendar, it only consisted of just 29 days. It wasn’t until the Roman calendar was reformed again and replaced by the Julian calendar, that June was then given 30 days again.
